Eulogy like nothing else : eulogy accompanied

with bass guitar.

Toby, your favorite funny uncle, died. So suddenly. You weren’t even prepared. You knew that he’s been sick. After all, he’s old, and you always think that it’s time. But not so soon.

And then it came. Your family knew that you’re his favorite nephew (or niece), and that he’s your favorite uncle. They wanted you to deliver an eulogy. It’s painful, finally letting go, but here’s your chance to really let go. So Uncle Toby can finally rest in peace.

Distraught and weary, you tried to gather your scrambled thoughts. You couldn’t find a clue. You scoured everywhere for sample eulogies and were determined to pick bits here and there to make the best one. But then, “Uncle Toby was the nicest person I know on earth” won’t cut it. Uncle Toby was special. He needed something special, even if it’s the last thing about him.

Eulogy has always traditionally been delivered in writing and speech. Even the dictionary definition of the word clearly defines “a speech or a piece of writing” as the medium. But remember. Special. That’s the keyword.

One of the novel ideas to deliver your eulogy is to deliver it accompanied with music. And one of the best instruments for this purpose is bass guitar.

Why bass guitar, you ask. I need to learn bass guitar first, you whined. Fret not. There’s a reason for everything isn’t there? Bass guitar is relatively easy to learn and master, there are only 4 strings on it (usual guitars have 6 strings). Its sound is deep, and can sound emotional, perfect to deliver the sad yet peaceful mood of a funeral. Furthermore you can just play one note at a time for your eulogy, making it not potentially distracting, yet still sets the gloomy, peaceful atmosphere.

Eulogy like no other, indeed. Remember, Uncle Toby deserves the most special treatment.
